We’re only just coming to the end of Poppy season here in Northumberland and last week I caught the remnants of a poppy field near to Lesbury and Alnmouth (I’m still hoping there’s enough left for another shoot this week).
The field being private (well there’s a sign at the usual viewing point) and the restrictions of my usual anxiety issues I shot my images from distance using all 200mm that my 70-200mm zoom lens provides rather than climbing the fence and getting in close.
Of course I wasn’t looking for detail, but an impression of the field of poppies as I was shooting with multiple exposure blending and intentional camera movement effects in mind as the main techniques to create something more of an abstraction than a typical landscape scene from the captured images.
